Utility Construction Laborer

Qualified candidates must perform duties as directed by foreman in the installation or maintenance of underground utilities.
All qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license and must pass drug screen.

Description of tasks:

  • Load material on to equipment and secure as directed
  • Report any unsafe conditions to foreman
  • Operate tools as directed by foreman
  • Place, remove or maintain underground utilities as directed. This would include but would not be limited to carrying pipe, bags of cement and other heavy items. Jack hammering, shovelling, tamping and installing pipe, duct and cable.
  • At all times work in a safe manner

Machines, tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Jack hammers, Chop Saws, Tampers, Rollers, Vibratory Plates, Water Pump, Air ventilator, Gas Monitors, Basis Hand Tools.

Work Schedule and Hours: While work schedules and hours may vary somewhat depending on specific client locations and projects, in general, applicable work schedules include 5 – 8’s. Work hours include beginning at approximately 7:00 a.m. and finishing around 3:30 p.m.; including a one half-hour lunch break. Overtime as job dictates.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Previous experience in working in the utility construction field preferred. Must pass a drug and alcohol screen and background check. All qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license.; must pass drug screen.
